The Goshen Stampede - Yeehaw!!!

| | Comments (2)

This past Saturday was a first for me - my first ever rodeo!  We took our giant RV (The Green Machine) and headed out to Goshen for The Goshen Stampede.  My first thought was probably the same as yours right now...where the hell is Goshen?  It's actually nestled in an absolutely beautiful part of Northwest CT.  After what felt like about 6 days of driving we arrived at The Stampede and were greeted by bull riding, truck pulls, tons of carnival rides and a side show!  Here's some pictures of our day in Goshen (sorry, none of the side show):

These guys are actual rodeo riders.  Seriously, real life cowboys!  I wanted to ask them why they wear helmets when they ride the bulls now and if they feel less manly than their counterparts from days gone by...I thought better of it though.  I mean, they ride on the backs of pissed off bulls for eff's sake.  That's tough enough for me.

I'm sure the shirt-less dude works out a lot to get this ripped.  It's impressive.  Personally though I think whether your Moobs are junk food made or barbell made Moobs are still Moobs.  (translation for those who don't know:  Moobs = Man boobs)

We loved this guy.  He was a pretty funny dude.  True story:  After this picture was taken I high-tailed it off that mechanical bull.  Good thing I did too because this dude split his pants right up his backside getting tossed from that thing.  (Sometimes you can't make this stuff up no matter how hard you try.)

Apparently the guy before him blowing the ass out of his pants wasn't warning enough for him.  So one of our MCs, Dragan, decided to give it a go anyway.  Dragan brought his own hat and giant belt buckle...but sadly it wasn't enough.  There were no broken pants but there may have been some broken feelings...

I think it goes without saying that this was one of our favorite events we've covered so far this year.  Thanks again to everyone who got on camera with us.  Coming soon I'll regale you with stories of how I crashed the Traveler's Championship golf tourney.  Until then, stay classy.

Yee ha!! Great event, Chet knows how to pick 'em!!

You made a few excellent points there. I did a search about the subject and hardly got any specific details on other sites, but then great to be here, really, thanks.
